The Kardashian-Jenner family has many brands, from Kim’s Skims to Khloe’s Good American to Kylie’s Kylie Cosmetics. One brand is Kendall’s 818 Tequila, which made its debut in 2023.
This spring, Kendall completed “Kendall’s College Tour” where she visited college campuses across the Midwest to promote her tequila brand, 818 Tequila. She visited the local bars at the University of Georgia, the University of Alabama and the University of Florida.
From a PR perspective, this opportunity is a great way for Jenner to raise traction about her brand and encourage samples as she passes out tequila shots and drinks. In an Instagram post from Kris Jenner, there are photos and videos of Kendall interacting with many college students packed in a bar.
Though this tour did gain a lot of attention, Kendall faced backlash from concerned audiences. It seems as if Kendall is promoting underage drinking at college, but that is not the case. On the event’s promotional materials, they make it clear: “Must be 21+ for entry.” Another source, the 818 Tequila website, reads: “Please do not share with anyone under the legal purchase age for alcohol. Drink responsibly. Don’t drink and drive.” The brand is asking their consumers to stay safe and make responsible decisions.
However, this isn’t the first time that Kendall is promoting her liquor brand to college students. In fall of 2023, she visited four college campuses in the Midwest including: Ohio State University, Indiana University, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and the University of Michigan. With the popularity of these events, I think Kendall needs to get Eugene on her radar.
Kendall knew her audience, and got a lot of attention for her brand (AND the local bars). It’s a win-win. 818 Tequila is gaining a lot of new customers.
